AC160 FCP6 won't import footage

I shot an event this weekend using my AF100 and AC160. Each camera filled up a 32GB card with two 1.5 hr segments. The AF100 footage came in great. The AC160's footage keeps dying about 1/8 the way into the Log & Transfer operation, quitting with a red exclamation mark. I'm using Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 and trying to transcode to ProRes 422.

I've tried setting in and out points before importing, un-checking the "Remove Advanced Pulldown and Duplicate Frames" preference setting, using the Panasonic AVCCAM Restorer app (says there's nothing to fix), and nothing works.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to get this footage to come in correctly?

Possibly not supported in 6... That's a 4 year old piece of software and a 2 week old camera.

AC160 footage *should* be the same as AF100 footage though. Unless you're running into the LPCM bug that Apple fixed in 7.0.3, maybe your AF100 footage was shot using AC3 and your AC160 footage shot using LPCM?

Ah. That's gotta be it. I had the AF100 using its internal mics and the AC160 was taking an audio feed from the FOH board. I probably had the AC160 set to use LPCM audio. So is there any way to bring in the footage without the sound, and then bring in the sound separately?

By the way, one of the performers in this concert was named Buddy Greene, and I kept mistakenly calling him Barry. :)

If that's the case you'd need to move up to 7 or X, or ingest and convert those clips elsewhere.

Upgrading FCP is not an option at the moment. Any recommendations on other third-party conversion software?

Same problem with FCP 7.0.3 on a macpro

Same problem with FCP 7.0.3 on a macpro

Had the same issue this past weekend with FCP 7.0.3 on my macPro tower (running Snow Leopard). Curiously, had no problem with Log & Transfer on my laptop. Haven't had time to investigate the differences in plugins and such, but I believe the two systems are configured identically except for the presence of an AJA Kona LHe in the tower.

I have another event this weekend and will do more troubleshooting if the same thing happens again.

I purchased Clipwrap but now am finding audio and video gaps of 1-2 sec in-between each of the segmented files when I line them up on the timeline. Is there a way to import without the gaps so it becomes one long seamless clip again?

I'm going to guess you'll just have to do that manually- perhaps an update from Panasonic for the 160 is in the works...

There are no gaps in the recorded footage. You're experiencing an issue related to the software you're using. If you were able to successfully import the footage from the complete AVCCAM folder structure you'd find that it's all there. I think this is likely a case of just using older software that's not compatible.
