Fcp6 - clip is out of focus in canvas

This is regarding final cut 6.06. My MacBook is in the shop so I borrowed a friend's machine to show my most recent edit to a client. Everything looked good on my machine, but the clip is out focus in the canvas when I'm playing it. When it stops, it's in focus again. It also looks fine when I export it. Can anyone help me get it back in focus?
Meeting with the client in 4 hours.
Thanks!

I'm assuming that clip is rendered? Try dumping your render files. Also has the codec for the timeline changed? Sounds like you might be battling an H.264 vs ProRes render. Check to make sure that clip is the same codec as the timeline.

Yes, the clip is rendered. How would I fix it if the codec of the clip doesn't match the timeline?
And if I delete my render files, it might take a while to render again, right?

What is the codec of the native clip in the timeline?

Is it h.264?

And is there a reason you are showing the clip using the canvas rather than exporting it and using the QT player? The canvas always has been a low res proxy. The viewer isn't.

In your browser, just scroll over until you see "Compressor" and check what that file is. As you can see from mine, I exported one of my lower thirds in Animation instead of ProRes 4444. Fortunately it wasn't a trouble spot:

Thanks for the help, guys. The point is currently moot, because my computer arrived back from Apple before I met with my client. So there was no problem when I looked at it on my computer.

But my friend is still having the issue, so I will check out this thread again next time I help my friend edit.

Questions - how do I set the playback proxy to higher quality?

And actually, I am watching things in the viewer, not the canvas. I got confused because I wasn't looking at Final Cut when I posted this.

in timeline check RT option for video playback quality and frame playback rate and set record to tape full quality
