FCP wont import P2 clips under 20 seconds

Hi All,

Have had a look around to see if this question has been asked before and I cant find anything (not sure what to search for either).

Anyway - I have been getting this problem since I updated my FCP - must have been because I dont remember getting it before.

Basically when importing P2 via Firestore/External HD via P2 Import in FCP it will import everything fine except any clips below 20 seconds. To them it puts a exclamation mark in a red circle next to the clip in the queue...it doesnt even try to import them.

Is there a setting somewhere that I have missed? Its a very strange problem...why would I not want to import smaller clips?...some are vital.

Any help much apprecaited.

Thanks,

Chris

Try copying everything from the FS-100 to a hard-drive first.
Don't forget to do P2 organize on the Firestore.

Thanks for your reply HVXGuy.

I have organised P2 - hence the other clips import fine...its just the smaller ones that wont.

Also I have tried importing from a Hard Drive too - still same problem...I have even tried it on my MacBook Pro rather than my G5 and still the same.

I dont really want to fork out on P2 log at the moment as P2 import is doing me fine.

Any further help much appreciated.

Hmmm,
Can you hook up to a PC and look at the clips with P2 viewer?
If you are running windows on a Macbook Pro I think you can
even use P2 viewer that way.
P2 log pro is great to have even if you don't have problems.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your help but unfortuantely I have tried to uncheck the box and it still doesnt work.

I have brough P2 Log now and its working fine - although it still doesnt like really small clips (under 1 second).

Shooting on P2 cards aswell now which solves alot of problems...not sure i prefer the workflow to the FS100 though.

Would still like to know the answer if anyone can shed some light on this subject.

Thanks

Which version of FS-100 firmware are you using? The latest is a paid update, 3.0, and it not only adds functionality it also fixes some of the import issues. You are also not specifying which version of FCP. You should definitely be at 5.1.4 for minimal problems.
