FCP Uncompressed Dropped Frames Help

Hello all. I am attempting to import dv footage off of my hvx into FCP. I am running a powerbook G4 with 1 gig processor (2gig ram) and all footage is being saved to an external 600gig firewire drive (7200rpm).
I am trying to import uncompressed because when I use the default import the edges of part of the video are buzzing. When I try to import, I get a "dropped frames" message everytime.
I did some reading and saw a thread online about using a SCSI input. Unfortunately this laptop has no SCSI input.
Does anyone know of a work around?

Thanks.

forget about uncompressed going through fw to a laptop.
go back and double check your DV/DVCPRO sequence and project settings,
and make sure your judging the video quality off a external monitor.

"go back and double check your DV/DVCPRO sequence and project settings"

Perhaps this is an ignorant question, but check them as what?
What are optimal settings for a video that will only ever be output to DVD via DVD studio pro.
I recorded in DV on the HVX.

Thanks.

check your frame rates, fields (if any) - make sure the sequence has exactly the same attributes you set the camera to.
....doesnt matter what the end result is. If you shot 60i and FCP is set at 24p your going to have lots of problems.
