FCP saying Scratch Disk Full

When I try to import a file from the P2 store my FCP says my scratch disk is full and I need to erase some data. I have over 600 gigs free on my scratch disk. What could be the issue here? Is there a limit on how long my clip can be?

I have the limits in my system settings of FCP turned off.

FW drive as scratch shouldn't be a problem, especially a FW800. On some newer G5s the FW400 just won't hold up.

Open Disk Utility and see how much free space is on that drive. Don't trust the figures shown under the icon on the desktop. They don't update properly.

Go through all your FCP render folders and make sure all the render files from old projects are actually deleted.

What is the total size of the drive?

Is that firewire drive formatted Mac OS extended or Fat32?

What kind and have you formatted it after you purchased it?
