Okay, some time when logging in FCP P2 import windows, some of my copied P2 volumes would not play at all. Some would, some would not. they always unwrapped into QT with no problems, but it was difficult to log some cards.
What was happening was this - when copying P2 volumes off a card onto a external harddrive, the folders would be renamed according to the shoot date and location. example: P2 card in slot names "untitled" would be copied onto drive folder named "P2 Argonne #01" Some times a folder would have the "#" in the title, sometimes not. Of course all the folders with "#" won't work in FCP import window. deleteing the "#" out of the title makes the clip COMPLETELY perfect for logging.
As I stated before here, coping a P2 card onto an external drive on a G4 Powerbook has never lost any footage for me. But the logging was sometimes wierd..now I know why.
hope this helps others.
NO # in your folder names, and your all good.
