FCP not recognizing RAM

I installed 8gb of RAM on my mac about a month ago. My computer knows I have it but FCP still thinks I have 2gb RAM. How can I fix that?
 
Fix it in what way?

FCP is a 32-bit application, and depending on what OS you have, it can only access a certain amount of RAM.

What version of FCP is running on what OS with what specific Mac?

And what is the goal of accessing more RAM?
 
Um not really. If the RAM is seen already by your Mac in System Preferences then that's pretty much it...
