fcp capture settings

Being new to fcp which settings do you capture with for the xha1 since I cant find a 24 or 30 f setting. I captured with HDV 30p but is there any better way to capture.
 
Which version of FCP? There is no HDV 30P other than for 720 content.

You need the 5.1.4 update, which has to be purchased, it's not a freebie.

There is an HDV 1080 24P setting that works with 24f.

For 30f I use the HDV 1080 60i easy setup and it works great with no rendering required.

i have 5.1.4 and dont see a hdv 1080 24p setting. where is it located? when capturing using this preset, does fcp capture the footage as native hdv, or under an intermediate codec?
 
It's there. I don't know what else to tell you.

HDV - 1080p 24

Go to "Final Cut Pro / Easy Setup"

AFAIK it's native hdv footage in a quicktime format. I don't think that's considered an intermediate format such as aic or prores but I'm not totally sure. I haven't had any problems, but I don't shoot much 24f. I've been shooting mostly 30f and editing in 60i timeline with great results.
