fcp 7 - out putting a good dvd.

Hey Folks,
Sorry for the nube question
But after much reading on the net - me and my editor are still not able to make a decent dvd from a 100 minute project using fcp 7.
The project was shot on the gh2 - 24fps
the editor is using compressor.
would using a double layered dvd help? From what i read about that seems it won't help the resolution but will help the compression
anyway - have to send this film out to sundance and just trying to get a decent vid.
of course I understand that the full file of the film is like 45gb and a dvd is a 1/10 of that.
any helpful tips much appreciated.

I've made some great looking DVD's of feature length projects by simply using File/Share/Create DVD. Give it a try and if it looks better you will know the Compressor settings are wrong. Only drawback is you can only have a simple menu.

How is your editor exporting from FCP before Compressor? Exporting at current project settings, or converting to a different codec/resolution?

Which Compressor preset is he using?

my editor said "I usually export with current settings from fcp then pull the .mov into compressor, but i have also tried converting to a different codec/resolution from fcp and had the same results."
