FCE to iDVD downconversion

I edited a short movie in Final Cut Express with 16:9 1080i60 HDV footage. I want to use iDVD to burn the movie onto a standard DVD so that it shows at the best quality possible in 16:9 on a 16:9 TV (i.e. no letterboxing or scrunching should be necessary).

What is the recommended procedure for export from FCE and import into iDVD?

Thanks!

Btw, I was told that it is as simple as exporting a "QuickTime Movie" from FCE, and dropping that file into iDVD, which would then execute the appropriate compression. That seems to work in terms of the 16:9 sizing, but the picture itself has horizontal jig-jagging when there is movement. I'm not sure whether this is just how it is displaying on my computer, or whether it reflects a problem with the video. Thoughts?

Conversely, I have found a couple of settings that export a good-looking video with "Using QuickTime Compression," but when I drop that file in iDVD, there are side bars and scrunching.
