Favorite still zoom lens for AF100

I had supposed that my comment "after years of shooting super16" would have indicated that I'm not a newcomer to this - as a matter of fact I've been an Ables customer since it was Aaton in LA.

But you have completely missed the point - I said LIGHT WEIGHT lens designed for MFT with a 5x1 or 10x1 ratio - PL mount lenses are generally, as you said, very expensive, which wouldn't be a huge problem - but they're also (with the exception of super16 lenses, which don't work) designed to cover considerably more real estate and are big and heavy and therefore impractical for me. While I like using primes, I need a good light weight zoom - there are many places I'd prefer the AF100 - on a fishing boat in rough seas for example, where selective focus would add romantic quality to the image - but changing lenses constantly is out of the question - so the lack of a zoom with a decent range precludes it.

The AF100 is a very light camera, and with a good light MFT zoom would have much more appeal.

Sorry, I guess I missed "LIGHT WEIGHT lens designed for MFT with a 5x1 or 10x1 ratio" in your original post, when I suggested there were a number of Cine zooms available.

I can't off the top of my head think of any real Cine zoom lens in MFT. And all of my zoom lenses cover S35mm or larger except the one MFT lens I do own, the Lumix 14-140. I honestly don't know how long I will be shooting with a MFT sensor, so for me, having S35mm coverage makes more sense in my situation, so those are the lenses I have invested in.

As far as zooms go, this is what I have in my kit.

Cooke 20-100mm T3.1
Duclos 11-16mm T2.8
Zeiss 28-70mm f3.5-4.5
Zeiss 28-85mm f3.3-4.0
Zeiss 35-70mm f3.4
Tokina 11-16mm f2.8
Tokina 16-50mm f2.8
Lumix 14-140mm f4.0-5.8 IS
Sigma 70-200mm f2.8
Vivitar Series 1 19-35mm f3.5-4.5

All the Best!

Dave

I'd be interested in finding out if any of the new Tamrons are parafocal. I have an older 17-50 Tamron which is parafocal and is a decent lens. I'm currently looking for a 24-70 2.8 parafocal.

Personally my most used lens is the 24-70 f2.8 L by Canon.

I like the way the extension is reversed while zooming. It makes a very effective shade and it makes it easy to use a matte box.

It is also a very sharp lens with excellent contrast and color qualities.

It can be seen in the photo below with a matte box and ff shoulder rig.
