Favorite LOGOs

goldenboy - I hate to have to take my words back, but you just made me. The new version, with the beak is perfect. I think it breaks up the symmetry of the rest of the bird and "completes" it.

That is awesome!

i think its better with a PROFILE of the beak... kinda like this:

oooh that looks alot like the original huh?

I disagree...I think the beak above the globe, pointing up ties in well with the flow of the image. Currently it is well balanced and draws your eye to the middle where the text is, the beak to one side or the other might draw your eye away from the logo and cause you to miss the text altogether.

Just my $0.01 9/10 ... I'm not a designer, nor do I play one on TV

Yeah, this version still has that mystery to it. I agree with Larry as far as drawing your eyes towards the text.

Larry you've got a great eye for pointing out the basics of design! Your a designer in my eyes! Good job!

BWAAAHAHAHAA

i think the silohuette (sp?) of the phoenix with a profile of the beak is the most recognized symbol of the phoenix...just my .o2

think soccer logos and family crests with griffins and such on them

It doesn't have to be clear it's a phoenix because a lot of people don't even know what a phoenix is.The check is nike doesn't have anything to do with shoes. The colors come from a gradient from red to blue. Hey that rhymes! But back on topic. You say it's doesn't feel that original what other design does it remind you of ? also do you have any samples of multimedia companies that stick out so I can compare ? Thanks for your input

Unfortunatly your logo has way to much colour going on. Perhaps if it was a vector file it would stand out more. If not leave it as one colour with MAYBE a border around the graphic..maybe.
I also agree with the issue that the font is unreadable. Again perhaps if this was a vector and the colour wasn't blending in with the background. Move it over to the right some too. You could always make your card vertical with the bird on top and your name underneath. By the way, that bird looks more like a sparrow. Not powerful enough.

Goldenboys logo looks good. You could try and work with that. Not sure about the beak..too much maybe..hard to say. Get rid of the gradient crap..that look cheezy. What about fire? Am I not correct in saying that the Phoinex rose from a fire? Perhaps blue isn't the right choice.

Thanks Angrius, without the gradient it looks flat and not to appealing...I'm not feeling that. Maybe you could show me a sample of what you think is a good design and I can maybe work it in.

I think your design is wicked. I just think gradient use is cheezy and it takes away from the symbolism you used. Perhaps if it was set with a different background..something darker. What if you had used fire colours instead? Even incorporated fire elements or flames? I keep thinking fire. Most people would know that this bird is associated with that I think. Although, a lot of people are stupid and may link the fire to "hey this guy is going to burn us and take all are money".

Actually the logo is a vector file. The background isn't any color I just put that there because. The phoenix rises from it's ashes which I guess you could say is fire. Also the reason why it's blue is because blue flame is hotter then red/orange flame

Actually that's not exactly right as far as blue flames being hotter.

Blue flames aren't always hotter than yellow flames, because the color of light emitted by the flame can depend on exactly which atoms and molecules are in the flame. Each atom or molecule has certain special frequencies (colors) at which it absorbs and emits light, just like a musical instrument has special frequencies at which it absorbs and emits sound. Sometimes that's more important than the temperature of the flame in setting the color. Some chemicals burn with a blue color, for example, so that if you burn some of these on an ordinary fire it will look blue for a while (some fireplace logs may do this). This does not mean that the temperature of the whole fire went up, just that these chemicals made the color change.

I'd still go with red. Unless you are a republican. The blue just screams George Bush USA USA. Not exactly the most marketable symbolism at the moment. Foreigner beats out George W anyday.

Thank you bill nye the science guy . What flames aren't hotter in the blue part ? On a match if you look closely on the outside of the flame there is a blue ring and that blue portion is hotter than the red portion. I can't use red because I've already setup the name being blue phoenix

LOL...You're welcome. On a match it's because of the particular chemicals that are burning. It's not the colour that is hot..it's the chemical that you see quite often in things that are burning that gets hot. But that's not always the case. For instance, next time you burn down a shed in your neighbourhood, toss in some Potassium Nitrate into the mix and watch the fire turn purple. It'll be just as hot as if the flames were blue. And your neighbours will think you are badass artist instead of an arsonist.

If only I could use my vast scientific knowledge for good instead of evil.

SilverWolf,

I really think the design works. I wouldn't go about changing the phoenix, you can always use that shape as a 'brand' stamp later on as well. The only thing I would continue to play on would be the font used and actual positioning of the 'Blue Phoenix Multimedia' itself in relation to the phoenix symbol.

Thanks everyone for your input and you too angrius for the that wonderous lesson in chemistry. As soon as my design artist gets me some proofs back I will post them and you can critique. Oh also remember you can always post some more of your favorite logos
