Fastest Way to Transcode 4 Hours to DVD

I have 4 hours of mts files from HCM150. It does not require editing, but must be put onto DVDs so any consumer player can view it.

Is there a quick way to do that with VLC? Imovie is kinda slow and I have not yet upgraded to FC10.
