FAST SDHC Memory for the EX1

Anyway, now I feel like I belong to the elite class of users. KxS card

You are bro!

Now, go grab the Kensington 7-in-1 and a 16GB Sandisk Ultra II 15MB/s SDHC card all for around $100 !

DO NOT order the SDHC SanDisk from ebay, there are FAKE Ultra II SDHC cards out there and they will not work with the Kensington (They're not fast enough).

B&H Video has these for approx. $70

Ok now for the second time....spell it out.

Kensington 7-in-1 + Sandisk Ultra II or the Sandisk IIIs work like an SxS card in every way as in they will continue to the other card when one is full?

Surely this is going to push Sony to bottom the SxS as there is a WORLDWIDE RECESSION on.

Yes, that's the card to buy.

We're all looking forward to when the 32GB Ultra II 15MB/s SDHC cards come out. Not bad for $150 over 100 minutes of HQ video.

The same in everyway except that you cannot overcrank beyond ~ 40fps. Undercranking and standard framerates (24, 25, 30 etc) in both Standard Quality and High Quality are fine though :)

Quite a good alternative!

No ebay for me. It is either B&H or Newegg. Surprisingly, not too many stock Kensington readers. I wonder how these talented spies zeroed in on Kensington - must have done a lot of trial & error. They deserve an honorary doctorate from S S U - Sony State University.

Buy.Com is quite reliable. They have the Kensington reader for $36.24 / shipping included. http://www.buy.com/prod/kensington-...tick-xd-picture-card/q/loc/101/203877505.html

I just did a search on google and it seems they are out?

Also Brad....The only crank to me is being cranky when my 60gig HD drive didn't work as I expected on the camera the other day. lol
Need something that works and doesn't cost the earth.....this is a godsend.

I seen where people were looking at the cheaper Transcend cards?....well I don't mind paying the bit extra for Sandisk as they are the best I think.....have always used them in my Digital Stills.

Even though the Sandisk II cards are near identical to the Sandisk III card tests you did speed wise...I'd still like the faster cards.

1> Wonder when the Extreme IIIs will come out?

2> The 16gig cards give around 50 mins HQ in 1080P or 720P ?

3> Also does the EX3 Door Close with the Kensington or not??

Ha ha, I feel kind of the same way for safety sake. Then I remember that it seems Sony is currently limiting the USB interface so it's doesn't make that much difference - both cards can keep up just fine (and all testing so far seems to show this)

1. No idea on the Extreme III's, I don't think a 32gb model has even been announced yet. The Ultra II's are due around the beginning of November if memory serves. The date keeps getting pushed back I think :(

2. The 16Gb card will give 50 mins in both 1080P and 720P. This is because they both still record at the same bitrate (25mb for SQ and 35mb for HQ). Shooting in 720 means that you will effectively get a higher quality image (compression wise) since the bitrate isn't spread over as many pixels. Hope that makes sense :)

3. The door will close on the EX3 with the kensington reader. It won't close on the EX1.

1. According to a google search - October/November yes.

2. I know what you mean.....thats interesting.
Because I wanted to give the illusion of two camera, I shot my last project on 1080P and zoomed in and out on a 720x576 Pal timeline but I usually shoop 720P 50P...especially for Sports.

I know what your saying as regards Sony Limiting the USB transfer speed but if I got the Extreme III cards now it would futureproof me somewhat in case........by just that slight chance Sony would enable the USB speeds.

Would hate to buy Ultra IIs and spend a lot of money on multiples only for that to happen down the line....I want to invest in 4-8 cards.

Possibly, but no application can access the new Extreme III 30MB/s capability without first writing unique code for this capability. The Nikon D90 has this capability. In fact, SanDisk worked with Nikon to develop these new SDHC cards for the D90.

When you test the Extreme III on your PC with datarate software such as Crystal Disk Mark, it only shows approx. 20MB/s R/W speeds.

:)GuyB: No, I can,t find one local scandisk adaptor that I could easily return. I've tried the SIIG and it does not read SDHC cards, maybe a new model will (the door on the EX-1 can be closed with this card.) The Scandisk adaptors definately won't.
I know about the Transcend class 6 and x-150 (blue) memory cards, but have not tried the "blues" since the class 6 works so well. These 16Gig. cards are much faster that others, I think that they are well over the 20Mbs. rate. --Carl

You guys keep talking about 32Gb cards and most HVX users still have to use their once 1000$ 4 Gb P2 cards!!!!!!!!!!
Hell, just buy 10 16Gb cards and shooooooooooooooooooot ..................:kali::kali::kali::kali::kali::kali::kali::kali::kali::kali:

Any update on the AFT ExpressCard Adaptor?

Any update on the AFT ExpressCard Adaptor?

Any more info about the AFT ExpressCard Adaptor? (Paul)? Does it work, or is it off the screen?

Thank you (and thank you all for excellent and helpful information... what a great thread!)

elih, it's also listed in the non-compatible list on my KxS web site (see link below)

Why are people playing around with combination that don't work? Get over it the doors on the EX1 does not close with the K&S combination, but that is the only combination that works. If you want to waste your money, on finding a new combination, that is a good thing but trying a combination that prove that it will not work, is very stupid.
