Fast glass yet?

Any word or even rumor yet of a nice fast panasonic pro zoom?

A 12-50mm solid f2.8 would be nice.

... how did you mount it on a rig?
It's easy with the Olympus 35-100mm f2. Mount the rotating lens collar to the rig and mount the GH1 to the lens. No need for any additional camera support. With the Olympus 14-35mm f2, the lack of a lens collar is a serious problem...

The fastest auto-focus zooms for the GH1 are the Olympus 14-54mm f2.8-3.5 and the Olympus 12-60mm f2.8-4.

I've been using that lens on a GH1 and GH2 for quite awhile without a lens collar and without experiencing any problems. What problem have you run into?

It's a little too big for the GH1 for my taste, but I know some folks feel comfortable with it handheld.

In the meantime, Oly has just released a 12mm f2.0 prime lens:

I think this is the fast wide prime that we have been looking for. However, I have yet to hear from anyone who has used it on a GH1/GH2 body.

I'm still working on a rig for my GH1 and the Oly 14-35 (it will be all diy - cut from basic aluminium blocks, thats why it takes forever).

Theoretically the mount on the GH1 should be able to deal with the 1kg heavy lens....but I think thats not a good idea. When shooting handheld its no problem - just support the lens with one hand. But when working on a tripod or (in my case) a steadycam rig, the lens needs some support.

And yes, Olympus should have added a collar to this one as well. Or at least sell one as add on.

(But its worth the hassle, as the lens is the best I know of bevor things start to cost as much as a new car ;-) )
