Fast Drive Sequence w/ Motion Blur

Thanks to those who gave me tips on how to do this!

I am so freaking thrilled with my DVX100A. Holy crap that's an awesome camera for the money. This came out spectacular, exactly as I had hoped:

Shot with Scene6 (24P) and 24.1 shutter speed, iris all the way open, at dusk, on a tripod between the seats in my Honda CRV (which is perfect for that).

For the ghosting POV effect, I used After Effects 6.5 and the Time compression to 25% in a first pass and Motion Blur at 360 degrees, pre-rendered, then a second pass with the same. And that's it!

Quite pleased.

Danke to all who offered suggestions. :dankk2:

(If the video looks washed out, adjust your media player setting brightness -5%. It's nice on the original, but the encoder seems to wash it out in Windows Media Player... not so much in RealPlayer though. Weird.)

Looks like crap on my mac. Can barely even see what's going on! Give us a quicktime! or give me a link where I can download it, then I can open it with another program...

Glad you're happy with it, though. I remember you asking about how to achieve it ;)

Wish I could figure out how to export from Adobe Premier Pro to MOV format, but every time I try, no matter what combinations I pick in the Adobe encoder, it either comes out completely mish-moshed or clicking on the finished MOV file comes up with a "could not render" error message.

So that's why I end up just using MS Media Encoder instead.

Some computer pixies put a bunch of Quicktime files on my C: root... when I went to check them out, they were all different download speed versions of my clip.

Must be the same pixies from those motorcycle insurance commercials, only they seem to like me.

I uploaded the 1 mpbs version here:
http://www.deviancedown.com/Special/TravelingSomewhere.zip

It's 7.5Mb, so be patient. Save locally and unzip to get the mov file.
