Fader ND with 28-135 kit lens

Can anyone comment on using the Fader ND with the 28-135 kit lens and a 7D? I'm about to buy one for my 7D, and that's the lens I use. Specifically, I'd like to confirm that vignetting is not a problem on the wider end of the lens. I've read about buying a step up ring and getting a 77mm Fader ND instead of a 72mm. I know this will allow the Fader ND to be used with larger lenses, but I don't have any other lenses and probably won't be buying any soon. I'd rather have less bulk on the lens, but will do it if it's necessary to avoid vignetting. Thanks.

No, but part of the sky may be darker. Why are you getting a Fader ND for a slow lens?

Are you saying no you can't confirm or no there is no vignetting at the edges with a 72mm Fader ND?

Even for slow lenses, ND filters are needed if you want to control shutter speed (or open up the aperture) in bright light.

On the wide end, you will not have vignetting; however, because it is not meant for wide angle lenses, the sky may be darker in some areas. This is a problem separate from vignetting.

My suggestion? Get a 77mm and a step-up ring just in case you change your mind about lens purchases in the future.
