Fader ND on GH1 + lenses

So I finally got my nikon lens adapter for my GH1. It has made all the difference. I kind of hate the kit lens. Using my Zeiss 50mm 1.4 has transformed the camera for me. Waiting for my 20mm 1.7 to come on Monday.
Anyway, so since I can now get shallow DOF on my GH1 I need some NDs and want to keep it simple with the Fader ND sort. So I will be getting one Fader ND and some step up rings. I am trying to decide wether to factor the kit lens into this equation. It has a 62mm thread. My Zeiss 1.4 has a 58mm thread, and the 20mm panny has a 46mm thread. At B&H I have found step up rings from 58-62, and from 46-58, but can't find any that are 46-62. I want to keep the set up as minimal as possible (i'd like to avoid adding a few step up rings together, esp. on the pancake lens, which I intend to have as small as possible).
Anyone have experience with adding a Fader ND to the kit lens? Are there issues with seeing the ring when at 14mm? Esp. if adding a Fader ND and polarizer, for example.

I just went with a 72mm LCW http://www.lightcraftworkshop-shop.com/product/3

For the 6600 on the HV20 it will fit right on, for everything else on my GH1 I got a bunch of step up rings.

52 - 72 FD 24mm 2
55 - 72 FD 50mm 1.4
43 - 72 HV20
62 - 72 kit lens
46 -72 in case I get the 20mm 1.7

Hasn't come in yet.

Get a big one like the 72. You might even consider getting the 77, but it's probably overkill. You will use it ALL the time, and it's better to be able to adapt it to the kit lens and future wide lenses with large filter threads. As far as I can tell, you'll have to use two stepups for the pancake (46-58 and 58-72), but that shouldn't add much length or weight at all.

I have used the Fader on the kit lens (the 72/77 version) and don't see any vignetting at the wide end except when I have a rubber lens hood on. Then it pops up at around 17mm and lower.

Thanks for the advice, guys!!! Much appreciated!
I'm actually leaning towards getting the smaller Fader (58mm) for now. That will work on all the lenses I have. This is in part because I want to keep the 20mm as small as possible- and I'll have to have the Fader on so often. One of the main reasons I went with the Gh1 (over the 7D, for example) was how small it will be with this pancake lens. Doesn't adding 3 cm of diameter to the front of the 20mm extend the bottom of the filter beyond the bottom of the camera?

woops- correction.... the 58mm will work for all the lenses I have besides the kit lens. I really feel like selling the kit lens and buying the 7-14 ultra wide. Seems more worthwhile.
I guess I am not factoring the kit lens in so much because it is hard for me to imagine using it on shots that are important (ones that would require the use of the ND to maintain the 1/50 filmlike shutter).

If you don't plan to use it on the kit or on the wide, you should be fine. Keep in mind The rings aren't very deep, so they won't add too much depth to the setup if you stack them (the Fader will however). The general thought with getting a wider Fader is that it will be less likely to vignette since it flares out. I really don't know if that's true, but it seems to make sense. No matter which way you go, you should be good.

Now I am wondering if I should have gone with the 77.

Yeah I had to go 46-52 52-72 to get 46-72 step up.
