Fader ND from www.faderfilters.com??? Reputable??

I need a Fader ND 77mm fast, since I'm leaving the country on Thursday to film.

I have a Lightcraft workshop 72mm fader, but I need the 77mm size. LCW is out of stock on the 77mm ones.

I saw these Fader NDs on a website and they claim that LCW copied them. LOL. From the pictures, the FaderFilters Fader NDs look Identical to the LCW ones. They're actually the same pictures from the Lightcraft workshop website, which also claims to be the original Fader. LOL.

I can get these overnighted to make my trip since they're in the USA.

Anyone use these? Is the glass good? Do they work good?

Thanks

I have similar concerns, at first I thought they were the same filter... but I emailed LCW and they said FaderFilters have nothing to do with their product. They, of course, suggested I order from eBay seller bonifaceleung in Hong Kong instead and said it'll normally arrive in 7-10 business days.

There really should be some legal clarification here so they both can't call it the Fader ND, but everyone on dvxuser (and Phillip Bloom) seem to mention the LCW one as the one to get, and I'm hesitant to buy an inferior product so I'll probably wait the 2 weeks to get it.

However, if anyone has any good experiences with the FaderFilters one please let us know!

I had some BAD experience from faderfilters.com last week.
When I google about it, I found this talk and would like to share a bit.

Knowing that the Light craft is out of stock and I was eager to get one Fader ND for my job, I ordered it from faderfilters.com. I know that maybe a risk that I saw they just copy light craft photos but need to get a try anyway. OK, I emailed them and they just keep asking me to place order and escaping my questions. It's fine, maybe the people response to me is not a professional in photography (and OBVIOUSLY they are NOT!)

I waited for almost 2 weeks and I found they are just shipped from China. I do not have any bias, but that didn't make me feel good because they claim they're in the US.

And when I get the filter last week, that is just a plastic case with a filter. Not as what light craft packing, and when I open the case, the filter glass is just like having something pops up. Not a usual glass that should be.

I emailed them and ask for return, and I receive no response til now.

I really need a Fader ND to do my job, I then found another seller, something call like "anne" in eBay and they are selling the Fader, but after a few question, I found that faderfilters and that "anne" and all other eBay seller, except "bonifaceleung" (the official Light craft workshop eBay store) are from the same group.

I just feel like there's a bunch of guys here, setting a trap to cheat you money.

I inquired the Light craft, they said they have nothing to do with these guys. I can feel they're quite angry but at least there's a respective and polite reply, with professional knowledge.

I don't know who is the original manufacture or I won't give a damn on it. But I will only trust the Light Craft now, who could provide me good service and a responsible seller.

Finally, I bought a ND500 MC filter from the Light craft, shipped by EMS, and arrived 2 days ago.

I'm still waiting for mine from Lightcraft... ordered on March 28! Just checked a few days ago and it just left hongkong... on April 6... I'm not sure how to track it once it left HK... how is others' experience with Lightcraft?

I got my 58mm fader from LCW, it was mailed the day after I ordered it yet to took forever to actual receive it.

The LCW guys are brilliant!! I initially bought a 67mm for a lens I wanted to get. Four days after paying I changed my mind; wanting a 77mm instead in order to cover more lenses I may buy. Boniface said "Just pay the balance and return the 67mm once it arrives for the 77mm to be sent."

Guess what? He shipped the 77mm to me 'the same day' I sent confirmation of the 67mm having been posted back by me. Others would wait to get the returned item first.

Only do business with Lightcraft or Bonifaceleung on Ebay. I have with both - Multiple Step-rings from LCW and the 77 Fader from Boniface. Always a great experience.

Hey Guys,

I got the Fader version off Amazon (mainly because I had an Amazon gift card to use) and I'm totally happy with it. I see no difference at all between this and the LCW version. I did a pretty hefty review on it here:

http://www.amazon.com/Fader-Variable-Neutral-Density-Filter/dp/B0031Q3822/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1270848600&sr=8-1-catcorr

I'm sure it's not as nice as the Singh-Ray one, but it is MUCH cheaper and it does a BEAUTIFUL job at getting those f1.8 shots @ 1/50 shutter speed outside in the bright sun.

as for the shipping: Amazon sold it via Crawfords out of Florida. I placed my order and received the filter all within 5 days. No sweat.

Unfortunately the fader version is slightly more expensive than the LCW, but they are readily available to ship right now off amazon...and NOT from china.

I ordered a 77mm from the official LCW eBay store. It took about 13 days to get to LA, which wasn't awful but I had hoped for something a little quicker.

One thing is that the tracking number from Hong Kong Post stopped working after the package left HK. It would only say: "Package has left Hong Kong" and it was about 6 days after that when it finally arrived.

It's a great piece of equipment, however! I love it.

I just got a 58mm Fader ND from www.faderfilters.com (actually through one of their eBay resellers). I can attest that it's legit.

Apparently, it's exactly the same product as LCW's. The same manufacturer makes them in China, and various brands claim them as their own.

Finally got mine yesterday 4/10! this thing is awesome... not sure why I didn't get it sooner! a must for outdoor shooting!
