F8@2000???

OK, slap me silly, but I can't seem to be able to find the info with a search.

I believe I saw something to that effect recently concerning sensitivity of the HVX200. I know the DVX100's sensitivity is at F11@2000, and I think I recall reading on this forum that the specs on the HVX200 is probably at F8@2000. Is this confirmed or just a rumor? 3 stops seems rather drastic.

...Edit: Oops! Forgot about the f-stop scale being what it is. My overworked linear brain stumbled on this one. :embarasse

Yes, silly it is :-)
The scale goes: 1 - 1.4 - 2 - 2.8 - 4 - 5.6 - 8 - 11 - 16 - 22 - 32.
f11 is one stop slower than f8...or you'll need to double amount of light.

So instead of shooting in the glow of one candlelight, you'll need to bring two :-)

Doh! I feel silly indeed. I totally forgot about the scale. :embarasse So one stop is not that bad after-all, considering the densly packed elements for the same size chips. But is F8 a confirmed spec?

DOH! I didn't know she's said that. Well, unless she takes it back, that sounds pretty darn official to me. I knew that it had been bandied about, but I didn't know it'd ever been confirmed.

I heard about the sensitivity. It would be nice if it were a bit more sensitive.

One thing for sure, based on the recent basketball footage, I'm impressed
with the overall latitude expressed from that shot!

Can't wait...

The latitude is amazing -- it's well beyond what I was expecting. The sensitivity is not settled yet as per the camera I've been using. I'd guess it's around 400-500 ISO, but that still has to be verified against a finished serial-numbered version.

Thanks Barry.

I'm impressed! There' s no doubt this camera is going to be a real hit.
The first in its price class to offer such a magnitude of features and back it
up with excellent picture quality.

This camera is so dang flexible. I can't wait to see what's in store from all the talent that will be using it.

How would you compare it to the DVX100 series? (Couldn't make it to ResFest-Chicago)
Haven't done that side-by-side yet, as the unit I've been using is not finished. But they look comparable.

I was trying to figure out the sensitivity numbers, just so I could figure out lighting for travel. My B camera is a PDX10, and all it says is "7 lux at f1.6", but it automatically adds gain, so I'm not sure that number is gain free. Any idea how many stops improved the HVX would be?

Can't answer definitively until the serial-numbered units are out. Right now it looks like the HVX is around 1/3 to 1/2 stop slower than the DVX in progressive mode.
