F65: F65 - Ask me anything

Hi James, ...and others with experience on the F65,

I was curious about working with SR codec. SRlite, and such. My workflow will have me mostly working with DaVinci Resolve and either Avid for longer projects, and FCPX for shorter (quick turn-around) projects. I am curious of how well supported SR is nowadays. I saw that sony stated that it plays nicely with FCPX and Avid, but was not clear on SRLite (or any flavor of SR codec) with Davinci Resolve.

Is support for SR codec something I should be worried about moving forward? I was hoping not to have to transcode SR into DNxHD or ProRes when I shoot compressed with the F65.
-Thanks again, Rafael

I don't have an F65, but I did use the SRR1 recorder for a while, which does the SR 1080p recordings. If I'm not mistaken, the F65 uses SR at 1080p, then goes RAW for 4k.

With that preface - DaVinci read my SR/SRLite recordings just fine. It's covered under the "SStP" umbrella.

Glad to hear. Thanks for that!

Just to confirm what James said, there is no difference between SR codec on the F65 or on the SR-R1, they are identical.

They both use the "SStP" codec, exactly as the old HDCAM SR tape did/does.

Thanks for the elaboration, JM. I really appreciate all you more experienced folks taking time out of your day to help us out in the forums.
