F3 or used Red One MX: pros and cons?

didn't know the Epic didn't have sound yet... just like that backup even when doing dual system...

I think the F65 will be another great tool... but figure you have to be in the studio world or budget level to make it work... where I think the Red 1 or F3 with or without Slog is still the way to go if your a small indy... at this time...

I dont think so....

I Think the F65 is going to be alot more affordable than people think. Its definitly a rental item, but we rent what we need anyhow... I'm not looking to own a F65, im looking to shoot the living hell out of it....

Well everyone, with a lot of back and forth thinking myself between the F3 or possibly a used RED One MX, or even waiting for an Epic-N (N = neverland), I have finally reached a final decision and decided to pull the trigger this week. This is a really exciting time for me, and I can't wait!

I want to thank Timur, Sergio, Duke, Doug, and many others for their feedback and comments on this topic and similar threads here on DVX - all which have been well worth discussion.

Thanks guys you are the bestest.

Why the Sony F3 of course

:D

I've used 35mm adapters since 2003, and skipped the DSLR "revolution" so this a perfect step for me. I mostly do indie production stuff, and now, can expand into some commercial work as well.

I considered waiting for RED but its not even in their roadmap so waiting is not for me, plus I don't need 4k and what it would mean for workflow and final delivery to clients.
