F3 Group Buy for the ProLock....

Duke,

I am still debating adding a 17-35 which you seem to like, or instead get a 14-24. I already have the 24-70 and the 70-200. Any advice would be appreciated. My Prolock is on the way. Thanks!

@lasikdenver, that was a different thread, so I put a response in the 'Tokina Lens Question' thread.

Congrats Ned! They're getting there. I can't wait.

GOT IT! Really built well. Won't be around to test it until late tonight, but I am very impressed with construction.

Just got my Prolock.
Took me a little while to figure out how to set it up, but I got it in and working now. Certainly seems like a much firmer grip on the Nikon lens but the f-stop ring is very resistant to being turned. Anyone else have that experience? Is there an adjustment?
Just the opposite of the MTF which was very loose unless locked. Here if you tighten the screw on the f stop ring that engages it and allows you to set it so that it lets you see your f stop. Wish it wasn't so tight though as I want to be able to easily adjust during run & gun shooting.

My back focus is different than it was on the MTF. Hopefully that will be a good thing as the MTF didn't match the PL mount.
I won't be able to test that till this weekend.

Can't figure out how to use the ProLock. Can get it mounted to the camera without any problems, however, I can't get a lens mounted to it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ned

Mine arrived this afternoon. Excellent piece of work. Thanks to Duke and Jacek for putting this deal together and everyone who jumped in so we could get the discount.
cheers

Now that my mechanically-challenged mind has figured it out (I seriously have problems with things mechanical, but fortunately not artistic or technical).... what a solid piece of equipment. Lens feels absolutely secure. At least some closer indication of F stop. Smooth iris operation. Can't say enough positives

Emailed you

Jacek,

Maybe you can make the instruction "public" for all other potential buyers... I remembered your videos from last summer... Thet're gone now(???)...

Still loving mine! Just received another G lens (Tokina 50-135), another winner!...

I had an inquiry from another person wanting in on the group buy. Jacek said I could still squeeze them in.

If there is anyone else that wants in on the group buy this may be your last chance. PM me with your email address and shipping address.

I just wanted to thank both Duke and Jacek for making me aware of the Prolock. I tried it last evening with a Nikon 24-70 and it works great. It is really nice to be able to zoom slightly to frame the image rather than having to move the entire camera setup. I am planning on also buying the Nikon 17-35 based on Duke's recommendation for this lens. I would recommend sending the adapter with some simple instructions of use. The most important thing I have found is to have the aperture marking on G lenses set to the most open setting (f/2.8 for instance) as this is the end that is most useful and we want accurate. I would make the red dot for alignment a little bolder because it is difficult to see in dim lighting. Otherwise, this is a really nice adapter and much better than the other options I have tried. Thanks again. Jon
