F3 Group Buy for the ProLock....

I spoke to Jacek (Optitek) about a group buy for the F3 ProLock. The ProLock is a PL style locking mechanism for Nikon lenses.

Like other adapters it allows the use of Nikon glass. Unlike other adapters the lens is not twisted in. The lens flange will not get the wear and bending of the thin flange pieces with use.

This will be important with heavy glass, lots of lens changes, and to protect expensive lenses. Realistically your lenses are the big investment and should far outlast your camera.

It also has an iris control, but its an external ring with an aperture indicator, that makes G lenses behave like those that have an aperture ring. The ProLock fits onto the F3 in seconds the same as the MTF, PL, Adaptimax adapters. (The picture and price on the website is the for the ProLock for the Red which mounts differently.)

If we get 10 buyers, we get $100 discount each. (Normally $995 for the F3.)
20 buyers and we get $150 discount each.
30 buyers and we get $200 discount each.

I'm aiming for 20 buyers.

I have several people ready to buy. Let me know if you want to join the group.

Great idea!
I signed already. The Nikon to F3 adapter I am using now " does the job", but I need a more "smoother" f-stop slider and some f scale when using G lenses and Optitek sounds like a proper accessory. It would be nice if there is any users on this forum that have this already to post some images of the actual adapter on the camera as Optitek site does not have any. Ad since we are all "visual people", seeing the actual images of the product would help getting this list filled up faster.
Jacek, FYI I am volunteering to get some beautiful product shots of your adapter on my F3 with variety of Nikon lenses. Of course, I need to get the adapter first. Send me a pm if you are interested. I am the guy who has been talking to you since June...

Sorry, couldn't wait for the number of buyers to build ... ordered one direct.

Jacek,
Thanks for photos.
Can you elaborate following:
what is the top red screw?
How do you change the f-stop once the lens is on?
Is it a smooth slide?
Thanks.
I will wait patiently to list to get to 20... Come on people!

I did give feedback in the original thread about this adapter but I'll say again that it feels very secure and the lens doesn't move at all in the adapter. The F-Stop adjustment is a nice touch. Though
all of my lenses are now de-clicked (except for the Tokina 11-16) it's very nice to be able to have an indicator of where you are on the iris.

Great a group discount! I got mine last month out of Jacek's hands (thanks for that swift service) and it is by far the best accessory I bought for my F3.
not only is the lens locked on solid without tricky little spring locks.
If you use Nikon G-glass it gives you perfect aperture control.
When you shoot documentary stuff this is the only adapter that let's you smoothly control the exposure.
I own an MTF as well (for the moment, offers welcome) it is an outstandingly made product, but for precise aperture control the prolock is superior.

We just purchased an MTF. Wish I knew about this one two weeks ago.
Can the lens be mounted with the focus marks on the left of camera - not on top - like all modern cine lenses?
That would make it perfect then.

Yes it can be mounted any way you want- just remember that some lenses don't take it well out of position. Also the petal hoods on wide angle lenses will not line up any more..
Just to be clear the petal hood will line up when you mount lenses in original orientation(index mark at 12 o'clock position)
But they won't (line up) when lenses are mounted sideways...

The top red screw allows for a (very quick) calibration of ANY lens iris so the scale on the mount gives accurate reading of the f-stop.
Yes it's a smooth iris rotation...

Presuming the group buy goes through, I'll sell my MTF and hopefully not take too much of a loss. Right now they are backordered.

DVInfo hasn't allowed me to post anything about this, but Alister Chapman said he'd put it in his blog. Hopefully we'll get a few more there.
