F3 arrived? Post it up here!

My RED 18-50mm 2.8 arrived, it was nice to see the Cooke/i data showing up... Will be playing with the camera before the Africa shoot next week. I'll post what I've done.

My F3 is at the dealer awaiting collection. We shot on a rental F3 with CP2's last week and will shoot another one on the F3 this Thursday. We'll be using Nikons with the MTF adaptor for the first time on a Steadicam so it will be an interesting day.

Nice. Waiting for my Digioptical version of that lens Giuseppe

I very much love this beefy lens, its compact but built really well. I cannot say much about the Digioptical version because I only used it once, but I'm pretty sure they are identical as far as build quality. I just played with a DigiOptical 18-50 on a Sony 9000PL and have to say it was very nice, saw no difference in my RED one to the Digi. You'll be glad you got it. It does breath a slight bit, but not that noticeable.

How is that lens mate?
Still smooth? Why did not You buy RED 17-50mm t2.9?
Are You getting external recorder-KIPROMINI??

Still pretty smooth, I actually got this lens used from a RED One owner who was selling it, thats my only reason for not buying something else.

At the moment I'm still waiting to see if 10bit HDMI is possible, and if so I would go the Ninja way, I'm in no rush to buy though. I'm also waiting to see what recorders will come out at NAB as well as the prices for the 4:4:4 recorder. For now my friend has a NanoFlash so I'll be fine with that. I must say, the image right off the SxS card is simply amazing. I would have never thought that codec could look so good. It looks/feels like a ProRes 422 codec.

Last of the gear arrived. finally fully kited out photo:

If you care to, pick up the blackmagic intensity shuttle, a usb 3.0 card, and a trial of cineform. I'd send mine your way if I hadn't already gotten rid of it. Go into the f3's service menu and tell it to output a SAW pattern, and record it using cineforms hdlink. Drop it in something that lets you analyze color and check if the gradient has 1024 levels or 256. This is what I had to go through with the ex1r to realize it's definitely 8-bit, I have about a 95% feeling the f3 is as well.

Mine just landed, darn fedex guy took all day.
Much rather have a battery than mike.
Hopefully I get a chance to take the pig out for spin this weekend.

Mine came today...finally. I really thought I was in the first couple waves of cameras, but apparently I was round 4 or 5 from what I could tell.

Went shooting today, and this thing really is just sharper than all get out. From prior playing around, I thought it ceded a little to good sharp downconverts of Red footage, and now I'm not so sure. And this is with detail and aperture circuits off, just the way I like it. Either way, it's so close it doesn't matter.

I just wish there was a little more latitude to be had with the cinegammas. I suppose I'll set that out of my system later with the firmware.

Nice Rig- looks like you could just about put a Z-finder on the lcd.
Based on some clips ive downloaded and played with the blacks go really deep- you could try going under by a stop and bringing it up- maybe could even get away with 2 under. Im Jealous...

Cinegamma 1 definitely has the most room to play. My DP & I have already done a few days of colour chart & exposure tests a few weeks back.

Hes now into a 6 Ep Half hour TV drama recording to the nano at 100mbps LG.

I'll be doing the grade in a month or so.

Hi Nate, I got a similar setup with a Vocas rig, but need to find a solution to two issues. First, don't you feel like you need a start/stop function on your handle/grip and second what about the LCD screen ... not too close ? For the viewfinder I want to know if anybody has tried the EX Kit from Hoodman, some Loupe with Riser and strap ... and for the rec button, anybody knows of a simply accessory that works on the F3 8 pin remote connector?

Just picked up my F3. Looks great; a bit plasticy in part (particularly around the top control area) but overall very happy. The dealer said the earthquake and tsunami in Japan were going to impact strongly on equipment deliveries to Australia. If you want a camera soon (not necessarily an F3), I would be getting what is available now.

You mind if I ask where and how much Peter? PM reply if you prefer. Thanks.

I got it with other bits. Works out around $16,250 inc. GST. I understand there may not be any more deliveries for up to 2 months due to the situation in Japan.

Hey nate, congrats, how are you finding your RED 18-50mm ? I love mine, it feels like the perfect fit for fast setups with the F3, like it was made for that camera not the RED one.
