Extreme blockiness using 720p50

Hey, I am experiencing some quite extreme blockiness and funny gradations in my 720p50 footage imported into fcp using p2log...I think it may be due to either a problem with the imagineproducts pass-through codec, or the 720 codec itself, as 1080 footage from the camera is fine...seem to have the gradation issues also when playing the footage out to a monitor through component...someone at panasonic suggested to me that this was a " not good enough monitor issue ", but I am seeing it right through the process, it is certainly better once it gets to the SD CRT, but very much still there....having said which, no doubt a good monitor would help!!!
Any experience of this issue out there ??

So in the first one you can see odd abberant gradation in the blue wall behind Sappho, in the second grab you can see that the sky is completely breaking up...

HDNORM....I did have different settings, but just changed to the settings that are recomended for "film look" in the BBC whitepaper on HVX menues...It has definitely cleaned up the image, but there is still plenty of blockiness...

Just tried High Gamma...this is another improvement...more natural gradation in the skin-tones...then had a hunch to change the master ped, as the worst problems are in indeterminate shadow areas...-5 certainly helps, although you lose a heap of detail...still cannot understand the blocking in the blue sky though, there is no way that is a shadow area...forgive my serial posting here! just trying to think it through, if nothing else I have a ten thousand dollar lesson in setting up a video camera menu!...Conducted further tests...I shot 4 clips, 2 in 720p, imported through p2log, with bbc and then Barry Green " low noise " settings...then 1080p direct through fcp, with likewise both settings...For a start Barry's settings hide the noise better, but at the expense of shadow detail, i.e crush out the noise...the beeb is very neutral, if it was not for the codec problems it would be much better as a point from which to grade...the p2log codec definitely seems to majorly amplify a slight blockiness that is already in the codec, pushing it into " unacceptable " territory to my mind...someone please prove me wrong by saying " oh, just push th whojiwhatsit button ", but I think there is not anything I have missed, the different menu settings are capable of somewhat hiding the issue, but that appears to be all...Apple please support 720p50!!! I may use p2log as a temporary transcoding solution, but it seems like it is NOT a fix for pal-land unless you are prepared to take a significant quality hit...
