External TimeCode

Is there any way to record any TC from an external TC generator while using HVX200 other than just sending LTC onto chn2/1.
since we do the post on FCP, recording the LTC on one audio channel then assign that as main TC -as in Avid- is only doable via Timetools by Gallery.
and this application is out of our budget.
i know ambient has been announced to release a TC generator for 1394 port /cameras that dont have TC in/out. however our 1394 port is occupied by Focusrite.
i was wondering if any solution/application/workaround to record an external TC on hvx200 that could jam with an audio system?

Berk,

as far as i know there is no solution to that problem..unfortunately..!

Only way is to work with AVID and ambient lockit....we did it, only problem is that we had to record on 720pn and the production didnt check the compatibility with avid, which doesnt exist....yet!

I dont know how long avid took to make HDV run properly, but iam really tired of that..!

I am working with Edius, but thats no solution for this problem either....i hop they will make it work with the next big update..would be great..!

If you find any solution, let me know please, i have heard of time tools and i guess you have to put this into your budget..or you clap while recording and adjust all the external sound ba hand..which i wish you a good time for....really hope you will find a different solution..!

Thanks alot for the reply, Germanboy

HVX is designed to jam 2 or more cameras using free run time code and the 1394 port. Once jammed the 1394 cable can be disconnected and the cameras retain the same time code during pauses, tape changes, chip changes, and switching off/on. As long as the NLE can work with the original timecode you can sync multi-camera in post. As a backup all cameras should receive the same audio track (not camera mic) on at least one of the camera's inputs.
