FS7: External TC apps

Been using MovieSlate via my iPhone for years. Just love it. It allows one to input real time directly into your camera or recorder and then it has a great little slate. So convenient to have a pysdo smart slate in your pocket.
However, MovieSlate no longer supports the older OS on iPhones or Galaxies so now you are forced to plunk down $300 for that privilege...a privilege that is not long lasting so mo money will be asked for down the line.
Does anyone know of a decent TC app that allows the basics of TC i/O with a slate clapper? Or a work around, not including a SmartSlate, which is my next option.

Not a slate app, but for Android look at LTC Timecode Generator Pro -- it allows you to output a timecode signal through your headphone connector (you need to use a stereo mini to dual mono breakout adapter - and use the Red plug). I put a BNC adapter on it and can use it to jam-sync cameras. The running timecode also displays on screen.
It's not a perfect app (it isn't able to jam to an external timecode, doesn't run in background, etc) but being able to use it to sync multiple cameras has been great. Read the reviews of it to get a better picture of its limitations. But price is very reasonable for what it does do!

The only unit I'm aware of at the moment that is capable of ripping the TC out SDI is the Teranex Mini from Blackmagic design. It can take in SDI and de-embed the time code and stick it out as LTC from the 'R' audio channel XLR. Not super cheap at $695 but still way cheaper than the CA back. It can also generate 3D LUTs for on set monitoring so has some added benefits. It runs off mains power but could be fed by an inverter on location I guess.

If you have an older iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, just run the last compatible version on one of them.

Sure glad I clued into this sleight of hand before I upgraded to the newer iOS that made it incompatible. My interest in MovieSlate dropped to zero going forward considering the cost of the app and the timecode in-app purchases regardless of how good the app is.
