External Monitor for under $500?

What are your suggestions for an external mountable monitor to use with the 7D for cheap? I'm preferably looking for one under $500 that I can mount to my rails. I'll be using the RedRock Eyespy (hopefully).

Any success stories or pictures?

Anyone using these monitors be willing to share about how they are mounting them. Is the hot shoe a good idea for these monitors? Some say yes it seems, others are hesitant to put that much weight up there.

How good is the battery life (it seems that the coollcd site has batteries with advertised 3-4hr operation time)?

Mounted Using the Ebay Noga Arm. Using Monitor Works well and Using the IKAN hood.

I'm using a regular 7 inch LCD car monitor, a Denver DFT-711D.

Runs on AC, 12V or 10 AA-batteries, and cost me 140 bucks. Connects with AV.
Not HD or anything, but a great improvement over the camera's Game Boy sized monitor.

How is it for focusing? Runs from a 7D live AV output? Also I have a 12v battery belt, can you run the monitor from a belt or powerpack?
