External HDD workflow question

Hi, right now my workflow consists of offloading my P2 footage to an external HDD using P2CMS and then using Log and Transfer to bring the files into FCP. The problem is, when the files are brought into FCP, log and transfer is rewriting the files to my Macs HDD rather than running it straight of the External HDD. How can I run it straight of the External?

FCP L&T is creating new MOV files from the raw MXF, but not modifying the original files. You just need to change your default Capture Scratch directory.

I'm still somewhat new to FCP. How do I change that?

SYSTEM SETTINGS. Scratch Disk is the first thing that comes up.
