External AG-MC100 mic doubt

Hi, I own a dvx100be and a AG-MC100 mic that I use in the xlr input 2. I usually need the radiomic on CH1 and the external on CH2, never the want to use the internal one.
Could someone explain me how do I set the INPUT switch (Line or mic?) and the MIC POWER +48V (on or off) in order to have the best result with the mics? Still don't get it..

Depends on your radio mic, as there are some (like Lectro) that offer line-level out. But assuming mic-level out on your wireless, both inputs should be set to MIC in, and +48v should ONLY be used with the MC100.

Thanks, so i'll do like that...by you experience, do you suggest the AGC on or off with the dvx? i'm also trying the sennheiser ME67 to replace the MC, should I put the 48 on for that?
tnx a lot

The DVX does not have AGC. It has ALC, which is not Automatic Level Control, but Limiting Control. In other words, it's a rudimentary limiter that is designed to help avoid sudden peaks that overmodulate.

I tend to operate without it, because it isn't a failsafe. It won't prevent all the peaks unless your levels are properly set... and honestly, if your levels are properly set, you don't need it any way. Set your input levels so that your dialog is averaging right at the -12dB mark (the cross-hatched segment on the level meter, just before the red segments begin). You can peak occasionally in the red, as long as you don't hit the 0dB mark (the absolute peak).

+48v phantom power should be used with any external shotgun/condenser microphone that requires phantom power. Always read the meanufaturer's specs to see what it requires.

The ME67 can be powered by either a battery or by phantom power. You'll be better off if you use phantom.
