Exposure / histogram question

Would it be difficult for Canon to make a firmware update that would allow you to see the histogram BEFORE you shoot video? Or even better, when the 5D MKIII comes out, maybe have a dedicated H button that you press to toggle between the scene on the LCD and a histogram of that scene. Wouldn't that be a quick and easy way to eliminate uncertainties about the proper exposure? If the histogram is too far left, add a stop of light. Too far right, stop down.

yeah but its for firmware 1.0.8 and i updated to 1.0.9 to test newest version:huh:
Looks like team behind this is not organized at all,if i could downgrade then it would be different but now how i can test 1.0.8 version.
This is what happens if multiple people are working on sourcecode and there is no teamwork.I hope it will be ported to most recent version soon.

The 60D already has this. In video mode, press the info buttons a few times and the histogram shows up. This is one of the improvements that came out with the 60D which is usually overlooked, but very helpful.

by the firmware versions you cite, I guess you have a 550D

I'd expect the first beta version of magic lantern for the 550D to appear in a month or two; it should have manual audio gain, custom cropmarks and zebras / histogram / waveform
