Export Question - Widescreen?

I exported my MonsterFest entry with Compressor as a H.264 .mov file. I used the Web setting under Download with the Quicktime 7 Compatible tab. When I did, the image was squeezed into a 4:3 image. I shot it on the HMC150, so it's native 16x9. Is there a setting I'm supposed to have to make it display as 16x9? Thanks for your help.

I don't know which compressor setting you're using exactly, but when the inspector tab comes up there are four of 5 little tabs at the top that you can select and choose different options. The option to maintain the aspect ratio should be in there. I'm at work right now and can't look at it, but just look around and you should be able to find it.

better to use Export using QT Conversion, then you can select H264, and customize the aspect ratio, etc. to get the best quality and keep it under 50MB. Try Broadband HI or Medium.

Thanks for your help guys! I tried with quicktime conversion and the movie looked great, but the file was 186 MB. I'm not sure how to make it smaller. I did, however, figure it out in Compressor. As it turns out, in the Geometry tab, the default aspect ratio for the Web setting is "Custom 4:3." I changed that to Custom 16x9 and saved it as a new setting and that worked. So if anyone else is exporting the way I am and run into this problem, this worked for me.

In Compressor, and in those same tabs, find and click the "video settings". Reduce the bit rate in order to get it under 50mb. You will have to adjust this several times (probably) to get it right. Once you type in the bit rate #, in the general area it will tell you your "estimate file size".....which is just that, an estimate. It might estimate that the file size will be 46mb and then turn out to be 51mb. So, you will have to "push & pull" a little.
