export issues and stretching w/ xh a1 w/ FC

I'm trying to export an HD video to put up on vimeo.

I used an XH A1 to film.

I imported my hdv tape as HDV Apple Intermediate Codec at 60i (The native res says that it is only 1440 x 1080 instead of 1920x1080

On Vimeo's site it says that HD clips must be compressed to 720x1280.

I keep trying to export like they say and my video keeps being stretched horizontally a bit.

Does anyone have any idea of what I'm doing wrong here w/ my export settings in Final Cut Express?

I don't have Final Cut, but it sounds like you have the wrong pixel aspect ratio. Export your video at 1280 wide by 720 high with a square pixel aspect ratio (1.0).

Its probably because you are using the apple codec. try using one of the other import settings probably try HDV 1080p 60i (Im going off the top of my head, I dont have my final cut in front of me) I don't us the apple codecs because they never seem to work for me. Use one of the HDV import settings.
 
HDV means 1440 x 1080. That's the difference between true HD and HDV. HD is 1920, HDV is 1440.
