I filmed in 60i and editd in 29.97 - Whats the best way to export and get the best quailty for Youtube / Myspace

Export at "current settings." Use Compressor to deinterlace and create an h.264 file.

I use FCP and export: Mpeg4 / H.264 / kbs 2000 / 320x240 / current frame rate / fit size

here a link - how can i get better quality

I've started a thread about this. And in the process of exporting to this setting, on fcp or imovies, it doesn't matter, both of them unexpectedly quits on me.

One thing I haven't tried is exporting using compresor. Under settings, the entries selected is "New Default Setting" then MPEG4. Then over to the right, under video tab, it asks me if I want basic or advanced ISMA Profile I want. According to this forum's reply, you wouldn't pick any ISMA Profile. What is your take on using compressor as an alternative?

After watching your link, here are the issues:

1) Deinterlace. All Internet-based viewing is progressive (i.e. computer monitors).

2) YouTube is a real PITA. It doesn't matter how good your compression job is. Anything you upload to their server gets sent through their compression. Their compression is notoriously bad for the classic SD material. Your best bet is to check their current maximum size for any one upload, and try to compress your video to hit as close to that maximum as possible. If your full-rez DV Quicktime file is less than that max, then you need not compress it at all. Or you can uprez to HD specs and YouTube will add the "Watch in high quality" option, which is markedly better.

My recipe: Export | Using Quicktime Conversion | select Broadband HIGH (or medium depending on the file size you want), Options: h264, Custom aspect ratio (I use 480x270 for 16:9), best quality audio. This gives nice quality with workable file sizes.
