Quicktime+Quicktime Reference = Serious Problems

Krestofre- much thanks for the clue! I must be missing something though. I've tried searching for info that would tell me which version of Quicktime is "qualified" with which version of Avid Express Pro; certainly there are opinions on which to use in response to various problems being reported but I was seeking the "official" view (if there is one), i.e. wherein Avid would say "Version x.y.z is the latest version you should use with Avid Express Pro a.b.c Other versions may work but have not been tested with this release of Express Pro." or some such. Again, I would think Avid would be up on this as it is such a critical element in workflow (sure, workarounds exist but QTR is nice - if it works!) Appreciate any help you might give my dense pointing mouse. /s/ Lost in Quicktime

Well, the catch there is that Avid DOES qualify which version of Quicktime to install with Xpress Pro, but they've already updated their specification page to account for Xpress Pro 5.5 which will be available later today. I'm running QT 7.0.4, but I'm on a Mac system and can't off the top of my head remember if it's the same for Windows. So I'd suggest to either keep looking for that qualified version of QT on Avid's site, or upgrade to 5.5 so you know that QT 7.1 is acceptable.

Regarding Avid being up on it, Avid has always been a system that you have to cater to. Anyone who has been using Avid for a while knows that just because a new QT is released, or an OS upgrade is available, you don't jump on it until Avid says you can jump on it. I won't even bring up how long Mac people had to stay on Panther before Tiger was supported. It's just part of the price of using Avid. A price that's never been too hard for me to pay, for what it's worth.
