AC160 Expanded focus assist

Hello. Is there some way to turn on the expanded focus assist in viewfinder? Normaly, unlike focus in red, the expanded focus works only on LCD.

I, too, find that it only works at the LCD which poses a problem outside (i.e. you need a hood of some kind at the LCD if you want to use the expanded focus assist). Whilst on the subject of focus features that work/do not work, have you tried to check the distance meter against a tape measure. On my 160A, the distance reported by the camera one you set focus is overstated by 9 feet at around 50 feet and reporting error increases to where, it seemed one time to report 90 feet when the actual distance was only 70.
 
I find that the display will report 3-4ft or 1 meter focus but I will be on a wide angle shot and nothing closer that 30ft(~10m) is in my shot. I'd say it isn't accurate.
 
Precisely - I remember a snapshot you posted where there was a barn in the distance and it was reporting 3 feet.
