...Once I figure out how to embed on this forum I'll do it, lol

not sure I like the isolated color - but the editing once he gets outside is seriously electric. I love the editing and the shots...there is a continuous flow and I really appreciate that! I really think that revisiting the grade would transform this into a beautiful piece. I saw the color version of this video on youtube and I liked it a lot more. thanks for the great video!

Thanks for the kind words. The client really wanted the isolated color in there, so at the end of the day thats what I did.

I'm thinking about doing a directors cut of it.

Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks again!

Looks like every other rap video. If thats what you were going for, you nailed it. The quality of the image is great.

I actually didn't mind to isolated colour, but it needed more work. Masking out some of the blue stuff in the background (rails, windows) will let you play around more with the paramaters to get a cleaner colour pull without unintentionally changing things in the background.

i actually liked the colour scheme chosen.. images nice and sharp .. just there was no variety.. same thing for 3 mins... if thats what the guy wanted so be it , great work.. although i detest rap and its videos with a passion.

Why did you isolate the colour on the guy rapping, but leave the colour in the crowd shots? Takes the effect's impact away completely.
Agree on the concept that other people have mentioned, there's no 'peak' in the video idea. Nothing happens. Doesn't really make sense as to why there is a crowd outside his house. Simple story element would've made this so much better.

I image looks good, I would be tempted to just grade it completely black and white, more contrast though.

I love the color look. editing is tight! Maybe if the mural shots were more like that color grade. But other than that very nicely edited to the music.

Hey thanks for the responses. Some things are a matter of taste, but I'm definitely taking what you guys say in to consideration for future videos I do. Thanks again.

very nice, what lighting setup? I really like the shots of the spectators faces.

Some of the cuts were a little fast (like 3-5 cuts in span of like 2 secs), it ws cool sometimes, but just wondering why you did so many.

Overall i really liked it, and pretty impressed. How many times did you have him run throuhg the song?

All shots were shot with available light. We used a reflector with the close-ups and the profile shot of the rapper.

The cuts were a matter of taste.

As far as performances, we did a whole bunch (this is off the top of my head):

3x's -from behind the crowd
2x's -Profile
2.5x's -Top of the stairs (The second one was w/o him rapping, just gesturing to the music, the 3rd time we only caught the 1st verse as the card filled up)
2x's -OTS so we could see the crowd (a very fun shot, as we were yelling SWITCH!, for the crowd to change their positioning in the midst of the song)
2x's -in front w/ some of the crowds hands waving in the frame
2x's -from the left

...so what's that like 13.5 times? Sounds about right!

We had about 8 cards worth of footage by the end of the shoot... a very very fun shoot.
