EX1 footage from KERBEROS

Thanks Willis...I didn't shoot it...I am just the asshole cop with the gun in it...but as an actor, you love to see footage that you can use on your reel...just thought I'd share it...I think I want one now!

LOL!

I wonder what will be wrong with that footage. Too clean, not clean enough, not "organic", plasticky.

Whatever. Nice work.

Eww, it's like the sensors are full raster or something. I'd reshoot it with sensors half the res of the format, it would look much better.

Looks fantastic! Very well done. So goes the thought that the EX1 is only good for shooting trees and bushes from a tripod (minus any earthquakes). :Þ Just keeeding, there's only a few folks around here that think that way.

It's all about skillful camera work. Congrats on being part of what appears to be a well shot flick.

Funny how you guys are souring the thread backward...

The trailer looks good, man. Very nice.

Kholi, we're just keeeeding... you have to understand how often us EX1'ers hear what we're joking about. Rolling shutter, this, rolling shutter that... no 'film' look, etc. It's usually from the vocal few, but man, they pound relentlessly over the same issues... this is just a well shot 'cinematic' piece that's gonna be hard for the anti-CMOSers to to legitimately criticize. It's not a big deal, just being lighthearted about it. Not sure how "ignorance" comes into play here, as you say, but no worries.

Awesome!!!

I'm sure the Super Technoids will find issues that don't pertain to the drama, story and imagery of this film. Some folks on this forum should concentrate more on image content instead of splitting atoms. The camera is just a recording tool and to do that level of work with a $6000.00 camera is pretty amazing!

Thanks for posting this link..... It answers allot of questions..... I was starting to get sucked into pixel peeping and atom counting.

Glad you guys like it ...thanks for the kudos...I too believe that the images are awesome...I've seen more films than most people I know and for a movie shot for under 100k with a crew of under 5 and hardly any lighting or grip, these images are amazing...compares with many big budget films I've seen...

You could say I am biased, being in the film, but I am glad that some agree...

I'll post the updated versions as they come up.

Cheers,

Nice footage.

But... was that a rolling shutter effect when the girl took the flash picture? I looked twice, but I still wasn't sure because I couldn't pause on that frame. So in a movie, these things happen so fast that no one would really notice.

I agree that the story and the overall presentation are much more important. And unless you're shooting next to a bunch of paparazzi, then the rolling shutter is not really a problem.

It's interesting to see some of the comments and how technical and precise they are...I honestly can't see what you are referring to with the rolling shutter but I am sure it is something the camera afficianado's are aware of. As an actor and writer though, I would just add that if many of the filmmakers in Hollywood would pay just a fraction as much attention to detail with their scripts and their actors, then perhaps we wouldn't see so many multi million dollar duds that look great but are boring...

Either way, it looks awesome on my reel...much better than the footage I got from The Practice which is shot on 35mm...

This is a fight you will never win in a public forum. I've seen it for many years. Seems there are two kinds of people that offer opinions in these kind of forums and we need them both.

- Technical people care about the equipment/camera.

- Creative people care about the content/art.

- Technical people show pictures of Cats, Dogs and Flowers.

- Creative people show imagery.

I always wondered why a person needs a $10,000.00 Canon 1DsMklll 22 megapix camera to shoot pictures of there Cat. But I came to the conclusion, we need those people to figure out how to use all the features and explain it to the rest of us.

A person who picks out slight "Rolling Shutter" in a pan isn't watching the film. Don't get me wrong, I often notice odd or wrong things in films or still pictures. Most times, If I'm really impressed with a film..... I'll watch it a second time just to look for it's production value.

Where I come from (Los Angeles) there is an entire community of people whose job is to obsess over cameras and their technical aspects. Many belong to the Cinematographers Guild and are mostly responsible for Hollywood's reputation for extreme technical quality. Even if the content sucks (which it often does - but hey that's subjective) most Hollywood films have excellent technical craftsmanship.

A subset of these people (DP's) are also charged with being obsessed with visual quality of the image. And they hire the technical people to make sure that what they shoot makes it to screen unscathed.

Therefore it doesn't surprise me that on this camera forum, there are those more concerned with technical aspects of the cameras and those more concerned with the visual aspects of cinematography.

A well rounded DP should be concerned with both.

Hey Stan.

That looks amazing! Any chance you could point the cinematographer over here and maybe have a little chat with us (and perhaps the colorist as well)? I'm sure there are a lot of people dying to know a little about the technicalities of this shoot.

Congrats on some good looking footage (can't really comment on your acting from the trailer :-)
