EX InfraRed Contamination Fix?

???
Just go to the "other" forum for answers... This has been brought up a long time ago.
No guinea pig.

Used to go to "the other forum" , until I realized it is invested with wedding and event shooters and the entire thing was ran by a Nazi like Draconian rule. On the filter issue; Get Rosco or Tiffen for tungsten IR pollution and Pancro for outdoor UV IR pollution.

Here's what looks to be a good solution:

So are there any negatives with an IR filter? Can you just leave it on the camera 100% of the time? Or should you only use it with tungsten lighting.

If you look at the B&H Photo ad, they show it being used to remove glare in an example scenic photo. Kind of like a polorizer. Interesting.

You link only goes to BandH front page.

The 486 is not a great choice. There has been a great deal of discussion over this and Schneider has noted that the 486 has the potential of a greenish-cast and recommends against it. The IR 750 has been their filter of choice but there may be some additional developments that I cannot actually discuss now. Suffice it to say, I definitely would recommend against the 486.

Are you saying the B&W 486 filter or the one 486 from Schneider Optics?

Or both models are the problem?

Hey! I just got my camera!

I was actually surprised by the amount of IR contamination. I mean I thought it was just something particular that happened on particular situations... but it happens quite a lot!

Before buying I read a thread on the other forum... I think someone from Schneider came over and said that a 250 bucks filter (don't remember which one) solved the problem, without any green aberrations (as a cheaper filter caused).

Iudex

Do you happen to have a link to the filter or the thread I would like to avoid this problem without any inherent ones.

Thanks

OK, so are you saying for the moment, if we can, just wait a bit and Schneider will have an optimal solution for us? If so, how long should we wait??

Sorry vcfilms, I don't. Just go to the other forum and look for the thread, it may be a couple pages after the main one. Or ask here..

I don't know if this is the "other forum" and the thread you are talking about. In any case it have a lot of info about the IR problem
