Evf 100%

Just about to order the XH-A1. But, before I do, would some one please confirm what Canon says, i.e. that the EVF really is 100%? Howmuch 'less' do you see on the LCD?

I can't get to any locations that actually have one in stock, so I can't check this stuff myself. I will need to mail order.

What I am interested in is that if you line the edge of the LCD view on a straight line, how much more can you see in the EVF past that line?

If you line the EVF on that same line, is there *any* more picture visible on the final output? If there is, the EVF is not 100%. If there is no more then it truly is 100%.

This is important for me when I need to shoot a particular set of objects for a training video I have coming up. They need as much resolution as possible, so croping afterwards won't be an option, nor can I "zoom in" to make sure with the chance of losing some of the frame. I *need* acurate framing on this one, and don't have time for as much trial and error (shoot - view - re-shoot - re-view) as I would like, and due to other limitations, having a live over scan monitor is not an option either :(

Thanks to any one willing to check this out for me :)

I don't have my camera at hand but I believe both the EVF and the LCD are underscan so you lose about 10% (probably a little less) of the entire frame.

I use an external monitor with overscan capability when shooting critical footage.

By 100%, Canon must have meant that the EVF is completey visible to the naked eye, because it sure doesn't present the entire image area being recorded.

If framing is that critical you're going to have to shoot with a different camera or use an underscan monitor.

Hi Disjecta, quick question. What's the monitor that you would recommend and what is the place to purchase one? Thanks a bunch.

I really don't understand why this is so hard for them to get right. Given that they are already resizing the image for display, why can't they just resize it so it displays correctly?!?!?!

Really, how how could this be?
