Scotland is really nice this time of year up until September. So come on guys, tie it in with the Edinburgh International Festival. You'd get a full house.
evinsky - you should run a survey. I'm convinced that more than 40 people are interested in such a workshop. I was just about to attend the NY Bootcamp - but the flights Zurich - NYC and back for a one day workshop was not quite reasonable.
Yeah, what about Amsterdam around IBC time?
Just like NAB lots of us european users will go there, I suppose...
BOOTYCAMP!!! well, we got a name yet muhahahaha
We'd have to evaluate what it would cost for us to send our four instructors, flights, hotel, all that stuff.
Amsterdam/IBC sounds like a possibility though.
To some degree we're going to have to rely on you guys to advise us though -- we don't know Europe and don't know where the best place would be, when the hotels and flights are affordable, etc.
But right now we're focusing on the MegaBootCamp in Hawaii, so any talk of Europe is going to be delayed until we get the Hawaii 2-Day SuperBootCamp finalized...
For budget, something like Brno in the Czech republic is great. I was there on a festival with almost no cash, but could still not get rid of the little I had. Accomodation is good and cheap too.
Don't come to Norway! Not for a budget trip, that is - unless you guys'd like to stay at my place in the forest 30 mins from the main airport... You're quite welcome!
Only downside of the IBC: Hotels and Hostels are booked and it will be hard to find a place to hold the bootycamp - well, if not Panasonic jumps in as a sponsor, then you just could do it somewhere inside the RAI convention centre...
In Berlin on the other hand, I could probably get places to hold the camp very easily and for very low rates...
Anything east european I would´t probably go with 10.000$ of equipment with me, no offence to all eastern-europe dvxusers here, but I´m not sure if any insurance would cover this (I know that eg Prag/Prague/Praha is often used by movie productions or that there is the Camerimage in Lodz/Poland, but I guess they're on another budget)
The biggest problem I see: If you´ll only do one bootycamp, 40 will be far to few, more like 100 participants I'd guess...
Yes terrible insureance problems when going to Poland and eastern europe. I go to Poland a couple of times a year and once flew into Berlin on a cheap flight. Though it would be easy to hire a car to go to Bydgoszsz in Poland. all the hire car companies refused to hire me a car!
Ended up with a beaten up old banger, and even then the hire company removed the radio before I drove it off!
