Hi Matt, same experience here I'm afraid....oh no, I feel a rant coming on.

I love my HVX but I've come to the conclusion that the European Panasonic marketing people don't really give a hoot. I sent them some 'constructive' feedback about the promotional website many weeks back and also asked them about availability of my FS-100 (which since turned up.) I was told that my comments would be passed on to their broadcast and marketing managers. I followed up when this didn't happen and despite further promises that I would be contacted, I still wasn't. Folks who post questions on the European website rarely get responses. The letter from Panasonic said they would be in touch within 2 weeks - they weren't.

So it's just a promotional bag and battery - but my experience gives the impression that they're really not that bothered about service over here. In fact, I just went to look at the European site and it's not even functioning at the moment. Broken windows syndrome.

Contrast this with Jan Crittenden Livingston's contributions on this and other forums and it's difficult to conclude that while Panasonic US are more than happy to listen and take feedback from their customers, their European colleagues just ain't fussed. Rant over...back to work.

Yep, i got the letter aswell for some weeks ago and still haven't heard a word since. And the firestore I ordered with the camera i havent got yet, I don't know how much dates of arrivel i got on that one. Hope it get here any day soon....

aye, sname, same.

It kind of puts me in limbo, and becomes like a favour from a friend (that will arrive eventually), rather than a business deal.
I could just do with the promised battery really so I know where I stand with my workflow. I've already bought an alternate bag so I can take my HVX out without wrapping it in fleeces in a rucksack while I wait for the offer to arrive.

An update eMail would be good...

Aha!! A development. I just received the spare promo battery from Panasonic plus a letter/flyer apologising for the delay of the bag. According to the note, 'due to the complex production prcoess of the case, we regret that the delivery of both the camcorder and the bag were not able to be synchronised'

There's some more info about the bag in there too - looks quite nice. Thought I'd share the news... -skip

Yep, got mine too at about the same time.
Good timing, as I was cradling a spare battery only yesterday in a shop thinking 'shall I buy or not', and I decided to wait.

Interesting that it was a customs problem with the bags before. Maybe they were just the bits pieces needed to make the bags;-)

And yes, the bag looks very nice, apart from the 'steal me' Panasonic P2/DVCPro HD sticker on the front. Hope that's just in for promotion reasons, or the stitching can be undone.

It's hard to tell, but my initial impression was that the DVCPRO HD sticker looked like a photoshop job :-)

The same over here in Germany,

had the postman ringing twice today..gimme my Battery man!(when i told him "ah its coming finally, but it looks small!?-he said, ah youve benn waiting long, he could see that!)- I also hope that this stealing-advice-sticker is just some promootion photoshop joke, i think they just wanted to make our wait sweeter in suggesting: "we do this one specially for you guys..!"

Lets hope that it will arrive in the next 2 weeks, i loke my pelican for safety, but i already look like a bodybuilder!

Hi,

I proudly present the fact that my new spare battery has just arrived (anyhow - second place in german delivery).
The next days (weeks, months?) I will spend looking at the nice photo of the KATA.

Re: AG-HVX200 Promotion

Hi Larissa,

Thank you for the response. Your 'promotional items' have been taking
ages - and I don't quite see how you can justify or explain such
delay! I can only assume that you are waiting for all 'first 700'
European customers to register so that Panasonic can ship in bulk and
save on shipping charges! If it's true, it's rather cheap.

You might also want to check dvxuser forum from time to time - there
have been complains that Panasonic Europe is not very interested in
their users group and almost never responds to messages posted on
panasonic europe website...
(for example, the latest thread is http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/
showthread.php?t=60087)

Finally, I wonder if Panasonic could press Apple to release a DVCPro
HD 720p/25p and DVCPro HD 720p/50p quicktime codecs for Final Cut
Pro HD - at the moment Pal users are really discriminated by the
absence of these codecs and the impossibility to edit progressive
footage!

many thanks and kind regards

Hello,

your comments on Apple has been forwarded to our techinical manager.

I am very sorry for the delay in the shipment of the promotional items.
We are shipping the batteries at the moment, the bags will follow as soon
as we get them.
Please be assured that we are not waiting for a bulk shippment.
It was planned to send the bag and battery to each customer asap after
their registration.
Sadly the delay of the bags made this impossible.

as for the www.panasonic-broadcast.com forum, we are trying to improve our
answering time.
Thank you for your link to DVXUser, I will now start to check this.

Again, I am sorry for all the troubles this promotion has caused you.

Have a nice weekend.

Best regards,
Larissa

For my two pences' worth, I think we can only say 'thank you, Panny' for offering us anything free at all. Panasonic have given us a cracking good camera at a reasonable price (it's only fair that us early adopters accept a premium for being first off of the block) and they did not have to give us anything else, so the promotional items are a substantially valuable plus.

And they did not have to ship the batteries separately, but they did so - that's very commendable customer care in my book. Kata make first-class bags, and I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. It's sad that Panasonic's great intentions have given them instead
a big nightmare. Meanwhile, one of my old LowePros has been dusted off and will do for the time being.

Thank you Panny for a great camera and great promotion. All that remains for our happiness is 720/25PN support for FCP5.

I suggest we should join in a big 'thank you' to Panasonic.
(And no, I don't work for them in any way.)
best to all
Tom

If the delay is because of switching the badges round, then 'hey, guys save your time and leave off the logo badge'. Please. Pretty please...

I would say that no the delay is not about the labeling, it is about how fast Kata can make the bags. I use Kata almost exclusively here in the US for our bags and on occasion I have has to deal with delays. Patience will win out here and you will have a very nice bag for your camera.

Best,

jan
