Equipment dealers in San Francisco?

I know everything is in Los Angeles... but I don't have a car and can't get there!

I was wondering if there are dealers in San Francisco where I can try out Zacuto and Cinevate equipment (specifically DSLR supports). I have my doubts but just wanted to throw it out there and see if I'll get a response. Thanks!!

if you find one, let me know!
gassers has lots of still photo stuff, never saw any support rigs for shooting video though.
calumet is also mostly still photo.
basically, we're screwed.

I actually got a shoulder mount at Gassers that I use for the GH1, but it's an $80 rig, not the fancy stuff you guys are used to. I actually don't see Redrock stuff at Samy's either, I'm not sure what kind of retail store carries it. Gassers has a video department is my point, anyhow.

I think I've totally been spoiled by NYC.
Someone should start a kickass video equipment store over here...

Bad things:
1) I don't drive.
2) My girlfriend drives.
3) We don't have a car.
4) I don't think I can convince my girlfriend to zipcar and drive me 6 hours to LA and back... for shopping.

I guess we're screwed!

I meant 6 hours to LA and 6 hours back. Probably more like 7 there and 7 back.

Not to my knowledge, Rahn. Calumet and Gasser are sad little stores. One usually has better stock than the other, and one has more hostile customer service than the other...which store has which of these profiles is different every day, it seems.

Tons of great expendables suppliers, though, and pro audio and hardware suppliers...but no one I'm aware of that carries the brands you mention in any sort of showroom, try-em-on fashion.

I'd love love love to hear that I'm totally wrong, I'm looking for the same thing.

Well, I just like to stop in and look at these shops...but if you want something serious, and would be willing to drive to L.A. for it...spending hundreds on gas...why not just order something online?

i'd like to be able to hold a new camera in my hands and test it a bit for myself without having to actually purchase it online, have it delivered, test it at home, then return it and have to wait for a refund.
additionally, sometimes you just can't wait 2 weeks for an item to be shipped. sometimes i need something last minute and it would be oh so nice to have a good shop i could drop into and buy the gear i need.

I totally agree...I've been through the same thing, I live in Panama, and even when I go to L.A. or San Francisco I can't really find all the stuff that's online to hold in my hands.

There aren't a lot of options, though.

Move to New York?

I just moved here from Brooklyn so I guess I shouldn't be complaining... But NYC has spoiled me, what can I say.
Agreed, averan. Ground shipping from New York to SF is agonizing.
