EOSHD is saying terrible fizz and mosquitos with new ALL-I codec on 5D MIII

Although the results of this review do not appear to be untrue, EOSHD has always a very severe bias towards Panasonic.
Whatever review over there, ends up like "the GH2 is the best value for money and has the highest resolution available on the planet, better than Red for people on a budget".
Therefore, relax and take everything with a pinch of salt. I believe that resolution is highly overrated nowadays. Personally, I prefer a more vintage look which by the way I find way more filmic than the video-ish ultra sharp Sony and Panasonic look. I do prefer this look for stills also. But maybe I am just old fashioned.
Anyway, there are now cameras for each taste.
The only real bummer for me is the position of the magnify button. This is trully a real pain for us manual lenses users.

No one seems to be mentioning that you can re-program the magnify button to what was previously the start/stop button in the center of the wheel on the right side. So your concerns have been answered.

1. eoshd andrew reid is a hack. a sensationalist thriving on attention. any idiot who holds unto his word is an idiot.
2.expect much from 5d? it has laready been stated from the beginning and youre still wishing for it to be something it is not? be happy with the moire and aliasing minimized. theimagery will never be as good as a c300.

c300 must look like crap to you since its more resolved and detailed.
maybe youre confusing sharpness. theres a difference between high contrast vs resolved detail. not bashing 5D but i am stating the difference

Andrew is not the only one who has issues with the 5D Mark III's resolution. Here is what Mr. Bloom has to say:

"For me, resolution was the thing I wanted to really see an improvement with. I shoot a lot of deep depth of field high detailed shots. Yes the moire and aliasing is [sic] gone it seems, and this is wonderful, but the detail is rather muddy on high detail shots."

I just don't see paying $3500 for poorly resolved or 'muddy' images.

Nobody seems to be sharing my complaint that they moved the start/stop button from the centre of the wheel right under your thumb & it's not possible to re-program the Set button to start/stop recording. Moving the 5x/10x magnify button doesn't bother me half as much.

As someone who actually owns a 5D3 & can compare it with the 5D2 that I have owned for over three years I can categorically say that the new model is a significant improvement over the old model both for stills & video. If the resolution isn't up to that of the GH2 I really don't care as the ergonomics are so much better not to mention the stunning low light performance, nicer colours, better lens choice, better dynamic range etc etc. The 5D3 video looks great & is better than the 5D2 video that everyone loves. It is not poorly resolved or muddy. It's not a C300 but it is one quarter of the price & takes stunning still photographs to boot which the C300 can't do.

There is a huge difference between actually sharp and digitally sharp. Many video cameras induce synthetic sharpening. If the video camera has real resolution, than it doesn't need sharpening, and it will look organic and sharp. It is cameras without real resolution like the 5dmk3 that will end up looking videoish in the long run, because they lack resolution, and will often get digital sharpness added.

Though, I do understand what you mean about less detail being a stylistic choice too. BUT!!!! that doesn't mean it is filmic nor organic!!!!!
