Envision & RebeccaD Present "Berlin"

Thank you all so much for your heartfelt words. It indeed was a disappointment for everyone involved. I am still looking forward to viewing the films in this fest! Good luck all!

Hi Rebecca,

Is there ANY film that you are going to be working on for SpyFest? It is just not going to be the same without you! (and Norm!!!)

Was looking forward to seeing this, sorry to see it let go.

I'll watch this space never the less ;)

Sorry to hear this guys.

Obviously you have entered every contest since Zombie fest (that's 5 films in 15 months) so there's no way you should feel bad about the fact that you had to pull out - disappointed sure, but if guy who's been that prolific and grown each contest has to pull out, OBVIOUSLY it is a well measured and correct discission.

There are guys around here that talk and talk about filmmaking and never do. You ain't one of em.

lemme know if I can help on this endeavor or any other.

I'd gladly suit up as a Nazi, or AD (insert joke) for nothing but a cot and crafty, but unfortunately there would be a sizeable plane ticket involved.

We'll see Ted. It's kinda late to be joining a crew at this late of a juncture, though. Why don't you come film Spy Master here?

Jack, thanks! I would buy you a plane ticket in a New York minute if I could, man! Someday.... and you are right, it was a tough decision, but one that had to be made in light of everything.

Gutted for you guys, your a strong leader Norm, no point in compromising on the overall vision. Best of luck with the feature.

J.P.

Hey Norm, sorry to hear the bad news. I always look forward to seeing the next piece from you guys. Theres always the next fest! :)

BS!!!!!! Come on Norm and Rebecca, finish it!

So what if you don't have a 1st AD? These kind of obstacles are as big or as small as you want them to be. I just shot my short, myself on camera and my friend on sound - that's it. Now I'm not saying my film's going to be spectacular but it will be as good as possible under the given circumstances. No-ones ever 100% satisfied with a film, their's always something that could have been done better, but hey...

And as for the guys with german accents, well those of us that speak english only will miss some of the 'bad acting' that you might have been afraid of from replacement cast.

Go get your camera.

Ian

Wow, it's been nearly a month since I've last posted in this thread ... I'm sure some deep psychological issues as to why, lol. It's been a VERY mixed bag of emotions both before & after the cancellation/delay of BERLIN.

Thanks everyone for your sympathies, understanding, and support. They are very much appreciated.

Ian (tmnt), I know what you're saying/trying to do, and I appreciate it. I think you got a wee bit hung up on the 1st AD issue, as that was meant really as more of an afterthought, or in addition to the bigger issue. At the time of cancelling, I didn't have a guarantee of being able to have the German soldiers' LOOK (i.e. uniforms, etc.), let alone folks that could speak German, etc. The look, to me anyway, was crucial, as it would really set the tone for the crux of the film. Without them, we would be settling for less from the get-go.

I know what you're saying & absolutely agree ... I ALWAYS find something that could have been differently, better, etc. after the fact. But I refuse to move forward on a project, where everyone is donating their time, knowing in advance it wouldn't be at the full potential it can & should be. And now at this stage of the game, that particular project would be far too rushed to do it justice within the next 2-3 weeks.

Again, thanks everyone. :)

Can you at least shoot a little of Rebecca, like reading the paper or something? Anything really. Was looking forward to seeing more of her...

Don't tempt me, lady. I've been itching for an excuse to get out of NYC for a bit...

Hi Rebecca!

No dates set in stone but Di and I are looking at travelling during the month of July. We are thinking that we would get to Oregon in the middle of the trip, around the end of the 2nd week/beginning of the 3rd week.

Again, not definite yet... just giving you an idea of our arrival.

I hope that it works out that you are in town!!!

What a great idea, Norm. You should take Mark's suggestion and run with it.

Rebecca reading a newspaper.

Aloud.

On a trampoline.

Seriously - that could be a contender for "Audience Favourite".

Guaranteed to be in the top 5

I've got some clips from the recording session for the song BERLIN. I'll render a few out & then will need to run them past her before posting.

Hold tight, boys.
