Drew Ott
Wish I were banned.
I just made my high school English class a lot harder for myself.
My English teacher shares her classroom with a health education teacher for one class period of the day -- the class before mine. The health class spends one or two weeks out of the year dedicated to sex education. Today in English, as my teacher was going over how to write a good essay, I noticed something that had not been erased from the health class before us. I suppose they had made some sort of pros and cons list on the board, and only erased the cons when they were finished. Behind my teacher, written large on the board, was this... "Sex: Feels good, burns calories". I found this mildly humorous to be written large on the board of a high school classroom, so once class was over I went to take a picture of it (been carrying my D90 with me everywhere). My teacher saw the camera right after I took the picture and approached me.
"Hey Drew, pretty cool camera you have there."
"Oh, yeah... thanks."
"What were you taking a picture of?"
"Oh, uh, I don't really know. Well, I mean I don't think I want to say. It was nothing."
"Oh c'mon, what was it?"
"Well... that thing written on the board over there..." I pointed to the spot on the board.
"I didn't write that."
"Oh yeah, I know. I just thought it would be kind of funny to not know the context."
"That's not funny."
I could feel my face get a little hot (my face gets dark red with the slightest bit of embarrassment).
"Yeah... I don't know, I guess thought it was sort of ironic or something... I don't know."
"It really is not funny."
"I know."
"It's from the health class."
"I know, sorry."
She shook her head in disappointment as I quickly exited.
Usually something like this wouldn't phase me, but she unfortunately has complete control over my grades for the next 9 months, and everything we do in English is completely subjective. Should be an interesting year.
