Re: Elvis' "In The Name Of God' 10 min. Short

I didn't think it came across as US bashing at all. It is a difficult subject to takle at this point in time without people naturally taking sides or thinking you are taking a side. As I said before I had a hard time trying to figure out what side I was meant to take untill it dawned on me what the message was. I do agree with David though, a trained agent would be unlikely to get that worked up unless it was a ploy to get the upper hand.

Well . . . isn't it your job as the filmmaker to make sure we don't?

Re: Elvis' "In The Name Of God' 10 min. Short

I did my job. I think it depends if your open minded or closed minded. If you get it or not.

Re: Elvis' "In The Name Of God' 10 min. Short

Well, I'm not trying to bash you at all, but I disagree.

You had the arab guy running circles around the CIA guy, who looked ever more befuddled even as the arab's confidence grew. Then, the CIA guy's head comes off at the end (we assume). I think it's a reasonable interpretation that you meant it, not necessarily as USA bashing, but that the arab was in the superior position in the argument.

Seeing as a number of reasonable people saw the same thing, I don't think insulting them all by calling them "closed-minded" is really called for. You say you did your job, but a lot of people came out of it with something other than what you intended, and we all agreed more or less on what we saw.

At the very least, that's evidence that it could have been more clear.

David, what would you have the C.I.A. character say back to the Arab guy?

:(

I am a Muslim, and like always i am a bit disapointed and at the same time not surprised.

It really is a shame, that in this information technology age we as a humanity have access to vast amounts of information at our fingertips,
With such great access (unlike say even 200 years ago) communications has reached a point where it is instanateous.

And yet the mass public in the West have very limited or no understanding of Islam, and what understanding they do have is very, very distorted (due partly to the media).

Islam accounts for more than 1.25 Billion people on this planet, and is still is the fastest growing religion in the World.

In fact the impact that Islam has had on the World if you care to study the true histroy in depth, you will be fasinated to find that how much progression was made by humanity due to Islam amd muslims, the contribution is very well noted, but not very publised.

The muslims gave birth to modern day science and technology, mathematics, chemistry, astrology, medical science just to name a few, founded the worlds first Universitys (do you know why Mortar Boards are worn on graduation?) and worls first hospitals. Just to give a glimpse of what the muslims contributed.

Instead of understanding each other we fuel hate towards each other through misinformation (wether direct or indirect)

By no means i am not angry over any user's here i do not condone anyone who is aware of the facts or deep and complex subject matter as Islam, i just wish ad hope that more and more people stop and say, rather than what i know and have been told about this what do i really know? and go out and make a real effort to find out from real creaditble sources.

Peace out.

Anhar_Miah, My technical advisor is from Irac. And the Muslims here in the U.S. have supported the film. So as a "Filmmaker" what did you think? Did you like the film characters or not? I'm looking for input here. What was your point?

Elvis

Close-minded, I hope is not the word you meant to use. :-/

Re: Elvis' "In The Name Of God' 10 min. Short

Re: Elvis' "In The Name Of God' 10 min. Short

John and David, I meant no offence. It is that I took a chance on this film just to see if I could get beyond my personal beliefs. And to do a project just to see where it would lead. I desided to have the bad guy say all the politicaly incorrect lines just to see what that character could get away with. And what an audiance would hear and take home.

Re: Elvis' "In The Name Of God' 10 min. Short

I'm following you Elvis. But remember the feedback requested from our 'peers' is what will make us better storytellers. What might make sense to someone intimatley involved on a project will not have the same affect on an outsider.

I am a storyteller. If my peers are going to say something. Then they need to say "Something" Don't you think?

I was not reffering to YOUR film in my last post! sorry for the confusion, i was speaking in general, most of what i experiance in the media and general public on a day to day basis.

In respect of your character (CIA guy) surely he would be alot more intelligent than to have those basic ignorances? other than that, yes it was "different" to what you would normally see in the old setrotypes, its heading in the right direction
