Electronic slate

An electronic slate that can have voice, text and a marker. Witha button push the slate is recorded and transmitted. The transmitted slate could go to additional cameras, that when they recieve it they record thier own camera info (camera name, settings and operator) and to sound for a clapper signal.

Yeah, something like the Viper which, as mentioned here: http://www.showreel.org/memberarea/article.php?174

At the start of each take a computer-generated slate is automatically inserted, so there is no need for a clapperboard. There is also a tail slate that lasts for five frames and shows visually all the content of the metadata that is embedded in every frame.

... the clapperboards are computer generated, with the end slate containing important metadata.

The problem with this is that it doesn't put a matching clap on the sound track in double system. This is the whole reason we have a clapper on the slate. What's the point of a clap in an audio/video file which is already inherently synchronized?

I would assume the digital slate would emit a short pulse tone.

Bonus points if you could encrypt data into the pulse for later auto sync in the RED conformer.
