FS7: EI. mode question

Absolutely! I love a good debate with people who know what they are talking about and are passionate about their convictions. What I can't abide is when people start taking personal offense or throwing insults when they get frustrated, don't agree, or don't understand what is being discussed. I don't think either one of us has done that here, so it's been good. In fact, you've got me messing around right now with S-LOG3 on my other computer. Here's some stuff I shot RAW yesterday afternoon for stock footage and graded as S-LOG2. I've going back and playing with it now as S-LOG3.

Just seen the latest CineAlta magazine posted on the Sony Forums:
http://community.sony.com/t5/F5-F55/Issue-5-of-CineAlta-magazine/m-p/498668#U498668

v6 Firmware in June for the F5/F55, looks like S-Log2 will now get to be a full partner in the custom MLUT stakes. More choice!

Doug, re your vimeo video, whatever way you record it, it is fantastic what we can do with pictures these days with a decent camera, a laptop and a bit of time, isn't it.

Ben & Doug - really appreciate these exchanges and the type of knowledge and opinions that are posted and shared here. I don't believe Sony has done a good job of explaining or getting lots of info out about either S-Log 2 or 3 (or at least I haven't been able to find much more than the technical data sheets), so it is always nice to get reports from other operators / users. I don't necessarily have to agree at all - but when I understand others decision-making processes, it certainly helps me stand or second-guess my own convictions.
Good stuff!

I would still love to see a coherent explanation from Doug about why he prefers SLog2 and what the pros or cons of grading it are vs Slog3.
I'm certainly open minded about it, but just saying its better just doesn't say very much.

If you go back and read my posts again you'll see some of my reasons, but you'll have to settle for that. I don't have time to explain in more detail. Sorry. As always, I recommend people take the time to do their own testing and see what works for them.
